Name
The name of this organization is the " Louisville Disc Golf Club" here after referred to as the LDGC.
Purpose
The purpose of the LDGC is to promote the development of disc golf and other disc activities through organization, cooperation and competition. Organize and coordinate the efforts of member volunteers to increase the quality and quantity of disc activities in the greater Louisville area. Educate its members and the community on the benefits and joy of disc golfing, and provide information on disc golf and disc related activities.
Membership
Any person who wishes to be a part of the greater Louisville Disc Golf Community and agrees to support and uphold the LDGC may join. An active membership requires that the member has paid the current annual dues. All active members have the right to vote at an All Member Meeting, has the right to be an Officer and receive discounts and all other benefits. All former members who are not current with the club dues will regain their Active Status with all rights by paying the current dues. The yearly membership is from January 1st to December 31st of each year. Anyone joining on or after the 9th month of the calendar year will be given full membership privileges for the remainder of that year and next year.
Officers
Anyone can volunteer to be an Officer and there are two requirements to be an Officer:
1. Be a current member of the club.2. Volunteer to do or help with a minimum of one club project each year.
Here are some examples:
• Be part of the fundraising team for the CVO.• Run a club league or tournament.
• Organize a club picnic.
• Run a club event to raise money for a non-profit or local charity.
• Organize a disc golf clinic.
• Or come up with your own idea. What are your personal strengths and how can you use them to help disc golf in the Louisville area?
There is no end to the things the club could be doing.
Officers are encouraged to work together on projects. You must volunteer before the end of February to be an Officer for that year. The term of service ends at the end of the year. You can volunteer to be an Officer again the next year and there is no limit to the number of terms you can serve as an Officer. There is no minimum or maximum number of Officers the club can have.
President
The job of the President is to provide guidance for the Officers and make sure they complete their project that year. The President will approve the Officers projects before work begins. If needed, the President will provide constructive criticism about the project and work with them to make sure the project is feasible, achievable, and good for the sport of disc golf and/or the community. Like any other Officer, the President is required to do at least one project for the club each year.
To run for President you must be a club member and have served as an Officer the previous year. The President is elected at the annual year end meeting. All club members may vote. Ties will be decided by a run off election vote to be done immediately and if the vote remains tied, it will be decided by CTP. The term limit for the President is 3 years. After serving 3 years, that person must take 1 year off but may still volunteer to be an Officer. The President does NOT need to volunteer every year for the position. If another Officer would like to run for the position an election is held. If the President wants to step down, he/she must give at least one months notice so a new President can be found. The President will need to work with and train their replacement.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is a specialized Officer and since their project involves the handling of club money, slightly different rules apply. This Officer will volunteer for the position, but will need to be voted in by a majority of the other Officers. Ties will be decided by a run off election vote to be done immediately and if the vote remains tied, it will be decided by CTP.
The job of the Treasurer is to collect and send dues, keep track of paying members, keep record of transactions, update the club balance on the website, and maintain club bank account and access to funds. All checks drawn from the club account will require the signature of the Treasurer and knowledge of the President. The Treasurer does NOT need to volunteer every year for the position and will continue to be Treasurer until he/she decides to step down. If the Treasurer wants to step down, he/she must give at least one months notice so a new Treasurer can be found. The Treasurer will need to work with and train their replacement.
Officer Projects
As an Officer, you must do or help with at least one club project. A thread must be started about every project in the specified place on the website. The project thread should be updated as frequently as there is progress to report. This will serve as a place for the President and others to keep up with the progress. For multi-officer projects, the project thread allows everyone to report their progress and working collectively in a more productive fashion. The project thread is also a good place to ask assistance or advice from other Officers.
It is important to keep the project thread updated and thoroughly explain the progress of your project as it comes along.
Meetings and Duties of Officers
An All Member Meeting will be held at the end of each year and when directed by the President. The Officers may also vote to hold an All Member Meeting. All Member Meetings must be clearly posted on the club website and at local courses at least 2 weeks before the meeting.
Votes at All Member Meetings are decided by a simple majority of attending active members. Bylaws changes require a 2/3 majority vote of attending members.
Most day to day decisions will be decided by the President and Officers. In a highly contested debate, the issue may put to an Officer or All Members vote. Any changes in the LDGC bylaws, LDGC name change and election of the President MUST be put to an All Member vote.
All Members Meetings are open to all but only active members may vote. Officer meetings are open to all active members and other invited guests but only Officers are allowed to vote. Visitors planning on attending Officer meetings are highly encouraged to call the meeting host beforehand.
Officer Meetings are to be held as directed by the President. The Officers may also vote to hold an All Member Meeting. Votes at Officer meetings are decided by a simple majority of those Officers in attendance at the time of the vote. Specially called meetings are decided by a simple majority of ALL Officers (those in attendance and absent). In either case an Officer may vote by proxy or absentee for all known votes.
Financial
Annual dues shall be $10 per year.
No loans shall be made to any club Officer or member for any reason.
Regular financial reports will be made to the members at club meetings or on the website.
Code of Conduct
Disc golfers are brought together by a common interest for the sport and want to see it thrive. When disputes or disagreements arise it is more important than ever to treat others with respect and have a constructive, civilized debate about the issue. Foul language, slandering, intolerance and irate behavior will not be tolerated.
Remember that you represent ALL disc golfers when seen by a non-disc golfer. Please act appropriately and be courteous to other people using the park.
Banning Club Members and Forum Users
A club member or forum user can be banned from the club and message board. The offense must be severe enough to warrant such extreme action. The person must first be warned in writing about their offense. If it continues a 2/3 majority vote of Officers will ban the person for 1 year. If the offensive person is an Officer, they are not allowed to vote. After one year, the person is welcome back to the club and message board. If the person is banned a second time, they are banned from the club and message board for life.Removing an Officer From Office
If it is believed that an Officer is unfit for the job, the Officers must first discuss the problem with that person. If the problems persists and the person is still thought to be unfit for office, a 2/3 vote by all Officers can remove the person from office. The President and Treasurer are considered Officers so this applies to them as well.
Disband
Should the LDGC be dissolved, all material possessions of the organization must be sold and the moneys obtained for the sale divided equally among the active members after all bills have been paid.
